Understanding the Three Threads of Janeu: Symbolism and Significance
Janeu - A sacred thread weared in Upnayan Sanskar, in Hinduism So, what the janeu threads and knots stands for...? A Janeu has a pair of three threads & each of that three is made up of three threads, Total 9. During the sanskar single janeu is weared from a pair and a term 'Bhramachari' is given to him. It is weared above the left shoulder & below right arm. The first three threads stands for Bhrama, Vishnu & Mahesh or the three devi Saraswati (knowledge), Laxmi (wealth) & Parvati (Strength) also it stands for the three nature of a person Satva, Raja & Tama.
